In today’s fast paced world, life is not in black and white. There are various shades of gray that exist at every turn of the road. The web culture that we currently operate in is one that is constantly changing. We need to remain open to adapt to the new climate so that we can remain relevant and can survive with what is demanded of us.
My company just merged with another company and the topic of culture is a big one around my office. Each region of the country has a particular need and reason for the way that they act. We have found that the great translator is the use of the computer. We all operate differently and in different time zones but we all can communicate fluently through the use of the computer and digital tools. As our companies have changed, our website has changed to. We are essentially building a new brand and training the consumers, staff and other associations on who we are and what we do based on how we present ourselves digitally and the offerings we continue.

This comic illustrates the way that my parents now in their 70s feel about social
media. My mother told me that my dad had
made the Facebook because someone had mentioned him. It was interesting to know that my mom felt
that Facebook was the same tool that people used as the local paper that people
were featured in. Unfortunately, it is a
quicker medium but often with less prestige. I think that this illustrates
that you have to stay relevant and know your audience and how to communicate
effectively to reach them. It does no
good to reach out and use today’s mediums if your audience isn’t on there or
doesn’t have an appreciation for it.
Here are a few things that I
will keep in mind as I work towards developing my project:
- Knowing my audience
- Listing key elements that tell the story
- Using my tools as a storyteller to get ideas across

There are many ways to create a project. As times have changed and my job demands have pushed forward, I have had to think about how to get things done in a timely and efficient manner with little resources. I have learned a few things about making things happen and tools to use them.

I like this article because it gives advice for professionals that is real for the small business owner or person independently creating a site with limited resources. I think that this would definitely apply to the student category.

I like how this article
graphically shows you the editors picks so that you can create and review them
based on those that live this.
I have consistently found good
advice by checking out these presentation tools. The article is simple and takes the stress
out of having to know everything.
This has been a great look into what we will need to start thinking of in order
to build a quality final project.
- Visually appeals to the student audience of all sorts of backgrounds
- Quickly tells the story and gives quality links to carefully selected sites
- Simple tools to give the reader the options they need
- Interactive elements to keep readers attention
As I keep exploring, I will
define more of what will be needed to keep attention of my audience and provide
a quality project that the professor is guiding us on the journey to create.
